Introduction:

I started using Ubuntu Linux around 2008 with 8.04 release.

I am only an end user, I have no computer programming knowledge to speak of.

After many years of playing and self teaching, I learned to get some basic uses down. I have tried a few Linux derivatives and found I like Ubuntu derivatives and now I like to share my experience with you for educational purposes.

I will share how to install programs and the different ways a program can be installed. How to get some Windows programs installed. I will also show you some programs I like to have installed and use.

The reason I like to use Linux is because it is free, robust, and secure.

The Lubuntu Linux that I am using to share is free to download from Lubuntu.net
Lubuntu Linux has low hardware specs to run:
Lubuntu can operate with RAM as low as 512 MB
Lubuntu can operate with the minimum CPU of a Pentium 4 or Pentium M or AMD K8
My personal Recommendation is 1 GB of DDR2 Ram at least at 800Mhz and a CPU no less than 1Ghz.

Secure in that any all applications need a password to be installed and compatible with Linux, meaning that mail-ware, Trojan’s and virus are next to impossible to get installed with out you knowing.

To me all the different Linux desktops that are available is the future.
