Ubuntu MATE 15.10 has shot off so fast that someone must have fed it too many hot chillies. Ubuntu MATE uses the MATE desktop which looks like classic Gnome 2 from before Ubuntu's Unity days. The team have done a lot of work enhancing the system making it much easier for new users.

Ubuntu MATE is now my distro of choice to recommend new Linux users.
