After an emphatic 10-2 win on Friday, the Rainbow Wāhine Softball team had to deal with more obstacles in their doubleheader sweep, 7-2, and, 8-4, over the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners on Saturday. This is now four wins in a row for the 'Bows!

"We had a really good night as a team," said Madixx Muramoto of the sweep.

Game #1: 7-2 UH

Despite a double play in the second by UH, it took until the third inning for either team to score a run. Fortunately, UH was the team to score first. Cierra Yamamoto got the first run via a Xiao Gin RBI single. Izabella Martinez aided Gin to get the game's second run with an RBI single. It was 2-0 UH already.

Kaia Johnson would get the first run for Bakersfield via a Karissa Munsey fielder's choice in the fourth inning.

UH's Mya'Liah Bethea made it back-to-back games where she drilled a home run. This time, it was a two-run shot to center field that drove in pinch runner Keely Kai to make it 4-1, UH.

In the fifth, Bakersfield's Rylee Price would juice an RBI double to drive in Logan-Ray Gaspar and make it 4-2, UH, but the Roadrunners would not score again after that.

UH came up empty when it was their turn, but Bakersfield came up empty in the sixth, which gave the 'Bows a chance for more runs.

UH got three more runs in the sixth. That started with Bethea via a fielding error. Martinez then juiced an RBI double that drove in Kaʻena Keliinoi and Gin for the final arithmetic.

Game #2: 8-4 UH

UH again drew first blood in game two after a scoreless first inning. They got four runs, which started with a Chloe Borges RBI single that drove in pinch runner Maya Ichimura; fellow pinch runner Piper Neri would score off a throwing error. That was followed by Betheaʻs second double home run of the doubleheader, which drove in Borges.

After a scoreless third inning, UH extended their lead with three runs scored. Gin belted an RBI double that drove in Yamamoto. Martinez hit an RBI single to drive in Gin and would score herself via a Haley Johnson RBI triple to make it 7-0, UH!

In the fifth, Kaia Johnson got Bakersfield on the board with an RBI double that drove in Gaspar.

UH got more help in the sixth via a Dallas Millwood RBI single which drove in Keliinoi. It was now 8-1, UH.

Bakersfield had one last chance in the seventh, but they only scored three runs before Munsey was tagged out at third base.

With the sweep, UH improves to 18-19 overall and 11-5 in the Big West. Bakersfield falls to 4-36 overall and 2-16 in the Big West. UH will now hit the road for a three-game series against Long Beach State starting with a solo game Friday, Apr. 26 at 3 p.m. HST., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 27 at 10 a.m. HST and 12 noon HST.
