The Avatar resumes his quest to complete the final exam at the long-abandoned Scintillus Academy of Magic! This turns out to involve three phrases: the tedious trial-and-error mapping of a teleporter maze, a platform-hopping area that promises some sort of puzzle but delivers nothing, and then the tedious mapping of a different teleporter maze!

There's good news, though: I finally got around to reconfiguring the sound in DOSBox, so we're going through these areas (which, if you recall, make use of a wide range of songs from the soundtrack) with music that (mostly) sounds much better and real sound effects for the footsteps instead of just bass notes on a piano (okay, I'll admit that I liked this part better before).

This magic exam, as we've learned, involves very little magic but a surprising amount of combat--as such, the Avatar gains a lot of experience along the way!

Finally, I pass the exam and enter the administrative area of the Academy, only to discover that this is one world where the Guardian didn't take his usual "subordinate the locals" approach to conquering...

At the very end, the Avatar presents a newly heated blackrock gem to the main world-joining gem, and then we head into a yet-untested gem face, where the Avatar finds himself... inside in a place with worked stone walls. Don't worry, we've at least got a different narrative flavour in this Scintillus-looking place: next time, we're diving into the underground combat arenas of the PITS OF CARNAGE!!!
