Well, this is it, team: Greg and I finally complete the first phase of our beat 'em up project, as we play the last of our loosely-defined "notable beat 'em ups through 1993"! That's right: it's time for The Simpsons Arcade Game!!!

I can still remember seeing this game in a New Brunswick arcade for the first time when I was six or seven--now, I'm playing it for the first time. It's definitely better than Bart vs the Space Mutants, but can it stack up against Bart vs the World?

Then, with some time left over, we decide to plug a gap in our video record: we revisit the NES port of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game! There's a fair bit of gameplay overlap between these two Konami classics, and with our broadened historical perspective we're able to perceive the Bayou Billy/Mad City influence!
