a side by side look at the PC (left) and Playstation (right) versions of Doom.

like most PS maps this is derived from the Atari Jaguar port. originally authored by John Romero, the fact American McGee did the conversion shows with the addition of a Chaingunner and Pain Elemental - get used to this as McGee did most of the console port conversions. the lack of a shortcut to the secret passage after the nukage room adds more challenge again compared to the PC map. not much to say other than that, just the usual console port cuts of some geometry and things to reduce resources needed.

boring technical details:
PC footage uses Zandorum with the BFG Edition WADs, with settings to replicate original Doom (no mouselook, infinite height collision hulls, et cetera) as closely as possible. mouse and keyboard are used for control.

PS footage uses a PAL copy of the game run in ePSXe 2.5 at original resolution (using resolution upscaling plays havoc with textures); this is to avoid framerate issues later on They Flesh Consumed levels, which are incredibly stuttery on original PS hardware. an Xbox One pad is used for control.

both sets of footage are recorded in 320x240 resolution and played on Ultra Violence difficulty.
