- 10 rules I set for myself for this challenge -
1. Legendary difficulty with the Mythic skull on.
2. Plasma Pistol melee only.
3. No jumping.
4. Must give a respectful bow to the Chieftain before the fight.
5. Must let the Chieftain do the opening attack to start the fight.
6. Must not take any damage from the Chieftain.
7. Every player melee attack must successfully hit the Chieftain.
8. Must prevent the Chieftain from equipping his Hammer.
9. Every time after you hit the Chieftain, the Chieftain must get to perform at least one melee attack before you can hit the Chieftain again.
10. After the Chieftain has depleted his Invincibility and the player has downed the Chieftain's shields once more after that, that's when you can finish him off with an assassination. No assassinating allowed before then.

Between having to form a rigid understanding of the Chieftain's melee combat AI behavior plus animations and actually do the fight perfectly, this took me about 300 attempts or so. Kinda wish I didn't have to resort to assassinating him, but with these Legendary+Mythic health values his health regeneration becomes seemingly impossible to beat with just Plasma Pistol melee, so I figured that thoroughly besting the Chieftain at melee combat and using the assassination as an elegant finisher was the next best thing.
