3Reputation (REP) in Need for Speed: Heat is earned at night, through participating in illicit underground street racing events and engaging in pursuits with the Palm City Police Department.
Players earn reputation towards their reputation level (REP LVL) at night as they compete in street racing events, ram police vehicles, disable police vehicles, and earn stars from activities during a pursuit.
Whilst driving at night, the player's total accumulated reputation for their current night session is not earned until they reach a safehouse or owned garage. The heat level associated also functions as a multiplier that is applied to the player's accumulated reputation, upon successfully reaching a safehouse or owned garage and will end the player's current night session.
Being busted by the PCPD will end the player's current night session and they will only be rewarded their earned rep without any multiplier.
