Ultra Street Fighter IV - Arcade with Elena
2For those who haven't kept up with my YouTube channel for a while, I like to dedicate my birthday to all things fighting games. So yeah, do expect to see fighting game content on my YouTube channel every time my birthday rolls around.
Who knew that it would take until 'Street Fighter 6' for me to fully appreciate this happy-go-lucky, nature-loving practitioner of Capoeira overall? In saying that, though, there's a reason why the name "Elena" was a name to fear and/or run away from back in the days of 'Ultra Street Fighter IV'. (Speaking of which, if you're wondering why this 'Ultra Street Fighter IV' video is part of a playlist that has the name 'Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition' in it, that's because USFIV was available not only as a standalone retail game, but also as a paid downloadable update for the home console versions of 'Super Street Fighter IV' as well as 'Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition'. Moreover, the credits sequence in this game remains relatively unchanged from 'Super Street Fighter IV'.)
So yeah, I totally forgot how notorious this game's AI can be even on the lowest difficulty. (It's either that, or I clearly haven't played Elena at all prior to 'Street Fighter 6', let alone mastered her abilities here. And just so you know, I did manage to avoid losing a single round throughout this particular Arcade mode run despite all that, save for the very last fight against a secret boss character whose name rhymes with "Diesel View".) I mean, to be fair, we're dealing with a game that first saw release for arcades way back in the late 2000s, so I suppose insane CPU shenanigans weren't out of the question back then.
Fun fact: Elena only spoke Japanese in her debut appearance (i.e. the 'Street Fighter III' trilogy) despite hailing from Kenya. That being said, however, she did study in Japan as a transfer student at one point, so that could explain her proficiency in the Japanese language. Did I mention that Elena was only 17 years old during the events of 'Street Fighter III' (18 in 'Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike'), at least according to an official Capcom source (or two) from way back when?
