U.N. Squadron Game Sample - SNES/SFC
Original Air Date: September 28th, 2009
U.N. Squadron is easily one of the best and hardest shooters on the SNES, even despite its early time of release. Known as Area 88 in Japan (based off of the manga series of the same name), your mission is to choose either Shin Kazama, Mickey Simon (Scymon), or Greg Gates, and stop the terrorist group known as Project 4. You can buy many weapons and gain several upgrades to your weapons, and each character has differences from one another. This game is more strategic than the average shooter and the interesting thing is that crafts don't typically die from one shot, but have health dependent on the character. Of course, you can also grab iconic things like the Yashichi to help you out.
I was playing this game when I looked on GameFAQs and saw a code for "Gamer" level difficulty. I hadn't even heard of it before, so I decided to play it for kicks, and let me tell you that there's a clear difference between Hard and Gamer. I certainly got owned not knowing what to expect. I don't know what's harder: Playing a shooter with many slow bullets or playing a shooter with a few really fast bullets. Enjoy.
