11Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is an action-adventure video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony. It is the fourth installment in the Uncharted video game series. It was officially announced on November 15, 2013, and released for PlayStation 4 on May 10, 2016. As of December 31, 2016, seven months after the game's release, it had sold 8.7 million copies.
A port of the game for PlayStation 5 was released in January 2022 as part of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which also includes Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The port of the game for Microsoft Windows was released on October 19, 2022.
Gameplay:
This game builds on the foundations of the three previous installments while adding a few new features. This alternates between quieter phases, i.e., platforms where you have to climb to reach a specific location and generally solve one or more puzzles. The grappling hook is a gameplay element introduced early on in the game and is often essential throughout the adventure. These quieter phases can also be performed in vehicles over longer distances.
Treasures to be found are always present and are represented as glowing white dots.
Combat is a third-person shooter, with health depleting very quickly: as the player takes damage, the screen becomes stained with blood and then turns dark gray, tending toward black, announcing imminent death. Nathan Drake can carry a maximum of two weapons: a light one like the 9mm IMI pistol and a heavier one like the AK-47. Nate can carry up to four hand grenades or four dynamites.
As in previous games, Nathan can also fight in close combat. The main character of Uncharted 4 is often accompanied by one or more NPCs, thus helping to "finish off" an enemy.
Exploring the surroundings allows you to find "journal entries," which prompt Nate to draw the location, object, map, or other information in his notebook.
Upon the game's release in 2016, Eurogamer praised the extraordinary technical quality of Uncharted 4, highlighting the "sense of excellence" of the Naughty Dog teams and calling it "the most beautiful console game ever reviewed."
In September 2017, the French website jeuxvideo.com ranked it the 11th best game of all time.
It is the second best-selling PlayStation 4 game with 16 million copies sold.
