Uncharted has blasted its way into theaters, but is it the fulfillment of the Uncharted movie dreams video game fans have had since the birth of the franchise? Uncharted (2022) is in many ways similar yet very different from the game, as fans may have guessed from the Uncharted trailer and shots of its star, Tom Holland. Uncharted marks a departure for the star, and many are wondering what Tom Holland can bring to the main role, and if the change will be welcome for players of the game version of Uncharted. Tom Holland undoubtedly has a lot of weight on his shoulders, especially as he takes on a new beginning for the character while Uncharted 4 still weighs heavily on players’ minds. He’s joined by Mark Wahlberg as Sully, there to help (and not help) this version of Nathan Drake change how we might look at Uncharted. So join us on IGN Canon Fodder as host Kim Horcher for the full Uncharted breakdown, ending explained and all the Easter Eggs we could find.

New trailer shots promised the action audiences expect from Uncharted; Mark Wahlberg himself brings his own style of action, shifting from the Sully you might remember from the game version of Uncharted. Clips released on social media remind viewers of some of the cinematic Uncharted scenes from the games, but whether the Uncharted film can keep that pace while making something wholly it’s own is a major challenge for Sony Pictures. Uncharted games are a touchstone for the console makers, even in the PS5 era. Following the timeline of Uncharted, they’ve got lots of ground to cover, growing toward the grand finale of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Is there a greater destiny for the Uncharted video game series? Naughty Dog seems to think so, even though it's already proven monumental for the game developer and Playstation. Uncharted is in theaters now, so Sony and company may make big decisions about any sequels soon.
