Splendor by Space Comboys is a great card and coin game for 2-4 players. In Splendor, players take on the role of medieval jewel merchants, attempting to develop their empire by collecting mines, trade routes, and jewelers in an effort to gain the attention of nobles, thus granting them prestige. The game is worth picking up on account of its beautifully constructed box and components alone. The coins or chips that are used to represent the raw gemstones are delightful to hold and interact with, made of dense weighty resin, and the artful cards depicting the various mines, trade routes, and jewelers, as well as the many nobles, are a site to behold. The game play is fast and fluid, and leaves players constantly calculating and recalculating what would be the most cost effective and efficiant way to further develop their business. Quick to learn and play, though with a solid set of engine building mechanics, this game is well worth a try.
