Playing a North Carolina in a tier X match in Okinawa, things didn't start well. Five minutes into the match we were down a Montana, Des Moines and Kutuzov, and two cap points. I had gone to A with the Montana and Des Moines, so I suddenly found myself cut off from my team with a bunch of reds for company. Things didn't get much better; by ten minutes red had every cap, and we were left with a Benson, Ibuki and my NC against a Shimakaze, Moskva, another NC and der Grobe.

That's when we started turning things around. A couple good hits managed to take the enemy NC from 30k to sunk as it went after the Ibuki. That left us in equal numbers, but at a considerable disadvantage in points and caps. Shimakaze was the next to go, but red still had a Moskva at full health and healthy der Grobe, all three caps and a considerable point lead (832 to 250). My NC had been down to 8k health but managed to recover. Their NC captain was already calling a victory for his team, but we didn't give up.

Ibuki joined my NC at A while the Benson took C for the first time in the match, slowing the point creep and buying us time. Moskva turned up at A to deal with us. Fire and a continuous hail of shots managed to deplete my beat up NC's health, and it was in range for torpedoing if that didn't work. NC put up a good fight, scoring three citadel hits, but was sunk for its trouble.

That put red at the edge of victory, but the Benson had capped C and entered B with red at 998 points, one tick away from taking the match.

Having taking a beating, the Moskva tried to run away but Ibuki was able to deliver a round of torpedoes to finish it off, lowering red's points from 998 to 948. That left just the der Grobe. Given the point difference, we had to kill it to win, and it had to kill us back or recover a point.

I wouldn't be sending this in if that was what happened ;) Der Grobe entered A to take on Ibuki, but Ibuki greeted it with a salvo of torpedoes to seal the match.

Although I know smackdowns focus more on a single ship's performance (and I don't think I was too shabby), I thought my teammates in this battle deserved a shout out. Even when everything seemed lost they stuck to it, and as the low tiered ships in the match we made a decisive contribution.
