University Final Year Animation: 321GO! Mock Rhythm Game
Game audio is such a catchy, fun, fascinating thing to listen to! Rhythm games take advantage of it and use the songs as part of the game's mechanics. My favourite rhythm game, Space Channel 5, extrudes this energy where the most silly and impractical of skills like grooving and reporting are given power and effectiveness in that world, making weird look cooooool!
Taking the music from Space Channel 5, I made my own rhythm game layout, creating a musical parody of the dynamic duo to counter the fun and relaxing with the dynamic action. Before the pandemic came and our physical exhibition was cancelled, I planned to make this physically look like an arcade machine. Two players would stand in front of the screen, one with a light gun and one with a snare drum, and respond to commands in time with the beat! It mixes 2d and 3d animation and references TAS Batman and old ps2 graphics!
