Unreal Intro Amiga 500 | Sharka's MicroBytes #9
I've settled into a format for MicroBytes, focusing on interesting bits of demoscene stuff and game intros and music and general home microcomputer bits 'n' pieces.
Having soaked up this intro and played the game itself as well as looking into its development history, I can't help but feel we should be speaking of Unreal in the same breath as we do Shadow of the Beast. Especially since there's only a year or less separating them. Developed for the Amiga before being ported elsewhere, Unreal has a beautiful intro screen based on a piece of fantasy artwork, Tim White's 'Lord of the Spiders.'
Maniacs of Noise are listed as the composers for the game and that's very clear from the in-game music. This amazing and evocative intro theme has a very different vibe, however.
Recorded on the PUAE core for Retroarch with the HSM Mega Bezel and TheNamec's Commodore Pack shaders to give an authentic display feel. Running on an A1200 2MB+8MB Fast RAM config with a WHDLoad of the game.
