Unreal was an impressive game when it was announced. I lived through this period of gaming and Unreal was *everywhere*. Justifiably so, it was stupidly impressive for the time. This was still the early days of 3D gaming as well; standard graphics card format was not yet decided on and developers were throwing everything at the wall watching what stuck with fans. Some took the safe bet and licensed the Quake II engine, others clawed out their own route. Then this new title appeared seemingly out of nowhere throwing a wrench in everyone’s 3D plans. Imagining Unreal running on Saturn was clearly out of the question. Saturn couldn’t even handle Doom, a much older title (but had amazing ports of Quake and Duke Nukem 3D and Powerslave).
