An unreleased version of Space Invaders for the Game Boy was developed by Taito with the serial code DMGSPY-0. This version does not include the most important thing, the Arcade mode which would upload an early version of the SNES retail game into the SGB RAM using the SNES CPU and APU. This version is 128KB, unlike the 512KB retail release.


This build is proof that the Arcade version was an afterthought and we very well could have never known about the SGB being about run SNES games, until official documentation was found and by other more elaborate invasive means (pun unintended... maybe?).



Interestingly, most of the commands to upload the Arcade mode are actually present in this build. Maybe this version was just an alternate build that was done for unknown development related purposes?
