There is possibility to succesfully hide, when psychopath is after Sam in episode 5 of Until Dawn game. To do this, run above the bed, choose "hide" in the basement, but only when you have the bat ready to use (from episode 2), go through the closed doors and finaly hide in the elevator shaft. Using the bat against the opponent is a part of the The Psycho Path trophy / achievement.
It doesn't matter if you run from murderer or not to further parts of the game, Sam will live - it's only related with butterfly effect.
