I first tried Until Dawn shortly after its release. My colleagues and I explored the story presentation and the art direction. We agreed on the qualities of interactive horror but were bothered by the annoying heroes. That was our conclusion after the game's prologue and part of the first chapter.

I returned to Until Dawn a few years later, wanting to finish the game with the best possible ending. Once my first hero died, I restarted the chapter and tried to save her with the help of the tutorials. I failed and uninstalled the game in disgust.

But the craving for horror, which I don't have that often, was more potent, and I returned to the game after another year or so. Today, it's my first platinum game on the PlayStation. In hindsight, Supermassive Games has managed to bend the rules of the slasher genre with Until Dawn and offer a truly entertaining experience.
