Montblanc Announces First True Wireless Earbuds in the Montblanc MTB 03 TWS Earbuds. Luxury brands have been getting into the tech space for a while now, and Montblanc is no stranger, coming up with gadgets like the Summit smartwatches, digital notebooks, and the luxurious MB 01 headphones.
Design-wise, the MTB 03 looks sleek inside and out, with a matte black aluminum charging case that weighs in at a hefty 85g. Inspiration for the earbuds has been drawn from the iconic Meisterstück pen with the earbud shell made from resin, while the white six-point snowcap logo is on either side of the earbuds and on the top of the case. You certainly won’t have to worry about people not realising your earbuds are from Montblanc. The company has worked with audio engineer Axel Grell to finetune the sound signature for the MTB 03. If that name rings a bell, he’s the same person who tuned many excellent products for Sennheiser before leaving the company, which bodes well for how the MTB 03 should sound.
On the hardware and software side, the MTB 03 is no slouch on paper either. With a 7mm beryllium driver, Bluetooth 5.2 with multipoint connectivity, SBC, AAC, and aptX Adaptive codec support and active noise cancellation, the earbuds seem to have most of the basics required for a good experience. There’s also IPX4 water resistance and Montblanc claims 5-6 hours of battery life in the earbuds with another two charges in the case which should come in at around 18 hours of total battery life.
However, don’t expect these earbuds to come cheap. With the materials and branding, these are retailing at £345, which is definitely on the expensive side. Are they worth the price? Well, we’ll have the answer to that after we manage to get our hands on them for some testing.
