Please note - if you follow this guide, you can safely ignore all errors and issues the game complains about. This is mostly down to the medieval-only tech mods removing recipes and ingredients etc that upsets the game.


READ THIS, BECAUSE THIS IS THE MOST COMMON ISSUE:
Many people are having issues with Wave Survival not working, make sure you add the Game Condition when setting up the scenario: "Wave based survival" - if you ignore this, or do not do it, you will never be raided.

1. Subscribe to the Steam Workshop collection [Link 1].
2. Let the mods finish downloading.
3. Open Rimworld.
4. Enable Mod Manager Only.
5. Restart Rimworld.
6. Download the file from [Link 2].
7. From windows, go to the local low folder, instructions below:
7.1. One method is type in C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\LocalLow and change XXXXX to your PC user name.
7.2. Type %appdata% in the windows search bar, that will take you to the roaming folder, from there go back to the AppData folder, and from there go into the LocalLow folder.
8. Go into Ludeon Studios, then Rimworld folder.
9. Go into the ModLists folder, and in there paste the file you downloaded at Step 6 from [Link 2].
10. Go back into Rimworld, close the Mod Manager if it is open (Not the entire game!) and reopen it.
11. At the bottom of the active mods panel (which should only contain core and mod manager) there is a file icon, click on this.
12. From the popup menu click on "MedievalFantasyFebruary".
13. From the next popup menu click on Load Mod List.
14. Wait for the game to load the mods in the correct order.
15. Close mod manager, Rimworld will ask to restart, say yes.
AROUND HERE YOU MAY GET AN ERROR ABOUT CLEANING AREA, IGNORE THIS.

16. The game will now initialise the mods - this will take a long time. Do not close the game. If it appears to have crashed, it hasn't, just give it time. On older PCs this will take a serious amount of time.
17. If all is well you should be on the Rimworld Main Menu.
AROUND HERE YOU MAY GET A DEV WINDOW POPUP WITH A LOT OF RED ERRORS ON IT, CLOSE IT, IF IT REOPENS PRESS "AUTO OPEN" UNTIL IT IS OFF, THEN CLOSE AGAIN. THIS CAN BE SAFELY IGNORE AND WILL MAKE NO DIFFERENCE TO GAMEPLAY.
18. To play with Wave Survival, you will need to play with the wave survival scenario, or customise a scenario and add a new game condition, then select wave-based survival.
