AKA how I went from mud to metal.
I finally upgraded the pickups on my SubZero 7 string, I went with Bareknuckle Aftermath's, and did the install myself. It made a huge difference, the stock pickups sounded like playing with chewing gum in the pickups, and these have the clarity I was after. There is a short tone comparison towards the end of the timelapse of the install.
In retrospect I do wish I had recorded my amp with both the old and new pickups, as the difference was even bigger through an amp - this demo was recorded using the Archetype Pettrucci Nueral DSP VST - which made the old pickups sound way better than they actually sounded through an amp, but I still think this gives a good idea that there was a huge improvement.
