Using GOGOAT to SOLO and CATCH a 7-STAR Mighty HISUIAN SAMUROTT!
Welcome to the video!
In this little video, we are taking on the 7-star Tera Raid against Hisuian Samurott. This is a Mighty Pokémon, and a great typing with a strong moveset. It has the Moves Ceaseless Edge, Razor Shell, X-Scissor, and Sacred Sword at its disposal to use throughout the Raid and will also use Swords Dance at the start of the fight as well as Bulldoze and Focus Energy
I used Gogoat here with an Adamant Nature, the Ability Grass Pelt, holding a Metronome, an EV spread of 252 HP, 252 Defense, and 6 Attack, and the Moves Reflect, Parabolic Charge, Electric Terrain, and Metal Sound.
This was done near the start of the 7-star raid, so there were some bugs in my strategy that I still hadn't fleshed out yet. The idea was to reset the NPC's you can get until we got at least one of them with the Ability Intimidate and the Arboliva. Since Samurott uses Swords Dance at the start of the encounter, the constant Intimidates from the NPC Pokémon would lower Samurott's Attack down by one stage each time their Pokémon is sent back out. This made it easier to survive Samurott's onslaught of attacks. Also, having Arboliva constantly applying Grassy Terrain every time it was hit helped to keep Gogoat's Defense buffed, further increasing the likelihood of survival and with the added benefit of relieving a move slot for something stronger. Getting into the strategy, it was important to setup a Tail Whip right away to help with doing more damage to Samurott. Samurott has X-Scissor which deals double damage to Gogoat. After that, it's important to spam Horn Leech three times to be able to Terastillize as soon as possible and keeping Gogoat's HP full. Terastillize, then use Leaf Blade to get Samurott's HP low enough that it uses the second debuff against the attacking team, then start going for Bulk Ups. Once all of them are set up, it's basically impossible to lose since Samurott will be doing next-to-no damage, and Gogoat can Horn Leech or Leaf Blade to victory!
If you want to do absolutely insane damage, feel free to use Tail Whip until Samurott's Defense is abysmal, and then use Leaf Blade!
It feels good to be able to have all of the Hisuian starters and have them ready for the start of the next part of the DLC, which is set to launch in mid-December!
