A naked rouge could kill a player through a complicated CC chain, but that CC chain revolved around blind and not a stun. A geared rogue could kill a player through a stun lock, but not always, and only against certain classes. Rogues had above average damage for a majority of vanilla wow, but not towards the end. And finally, Rogues had good match ups against all classes in 1v1 situations. I think its a combination of these 4 things that leads to the notion of Rogues being overpower in vanilla wow, and led to the infamous name of the "Stun Rogues".
