VBS1 & JCOVE (VBS2 Lite)
VBS, short for "Virtual Battlefield Systems" and later on "Virtual Battlespace" is a series of virtual military training simulators that were used by a number of real life armies and share the same engine ("Real Virtuality") with the ArmA games series. Because of their purpose, they're sometimes refered to as "serious game" and were also available to regular customers, if they were willing to pay for the license. The games feel a lot like the ArmA games, but come with a number of differences when it comes to realism options. In this video I'm doing a playthrough or playtest of the single-player content that comes with them, excluding custom scenarios and 3rd party content. JCOVE aka VBS2 Lite was released to the public for free in the past as part of promotion of British Armed Forces and you can still download it on some sites. The latest in the series is VBS3 which is not sold to the general public but you can still follow it's development on the official VBS site or YouTube channel. The innovations and improvements from VBS series often find their home in the ArmA series in the future. One of such improvements is also "whole world rendering" technology.
