Check out Veneficium, A HORROR GAME, with me if you like horror games with great visuals, monster design and phenomenal use of music to bring out tension.
Unlike most horror games of its sub-genre, Veneficium does not rely on cheap jumpscares. Instead, it makes excellent use of atmospheric or spacial noise and sound effects which kick in when the monster is near to bring about this sense uneasiness and helplessnes, which oftentimes caused me to freeze where I stand.
Of course, Veneficium is not without flaws, and the biggest culprit of all is invisible walls which are a big factor affecting immersiveness and gameplay. These invisible walls exist in random places in the MIDDLE of the map and it almost killed me a couple of times.
Be that as it may, Veneficium has a lot of potential and is free on steam at the time of this video.
