Sometimes the villain makes us sit and think. While their actions aren’t justified and they aren’t right with how they go about things, they may have sympathetic qualities or understandable motives and reasons, which we as an audience contemplate. How a villain can represent the worst of what we can become, while a hero represents the best of what we can become. Like heroes, they aren’t too dissimilar in the sense that they fight for what they believe in, but what they believe in ends up colliding with morals. Villains aren’t the good guys, we do not root for them, but they may make points that hold some truth.
