I remember playing this great fighting game in the arcades, i'd watch a few demos first with the words flashing on screen ''INSERT COIN'' and the sound was muted, then once I put my coin into the slot I was knocked back by the frightfully loud music and sound which I could actually feel on my face, it was like in The Simpsons when Milhouse got to play Bonestorm for the first time in his house, you could see his hair waving around and the flashing lights bouncing from outside his house, well Virtua Fighter II was just like that in the arcades. Then oneday I saw the game for sale on Mega Drive in a near by computer shop, I paid $80 dollars for this port and thought it was gonna be just like the original I had experienced in the arcades, little did 12 year old me know that it was going to be a huge let down. I took it home, booted it up and started playing it, I immediately saw the scaled down graphics, missing music, the two missing fighters and just frankly a game I didn't see worth anywhere near $80 dollars, especially for a game that you can literally finish in all of 5 minutes, nothing at all like Street Fighter II. Oh well, at least I can get satisfaction knowing that I own a complete copy boxed with the game manual as this game has an extremely low print run due to being a very late release in the Mega Drive/Genesis lifespan.

Virtua Fighter II on the Mega Drive/Genesis was a last minute rush by Sega's AM2 to get the game out on the system right before it's death at the rise of the superior Sega Saturn. Oh boy is this game rushed, it has missing music, missing fighters, lots of other graphical content missing and it's scaled down to be a 2D fighting game because the Mega Drive/Genesis couldn't handle the new polygon 3D graphics for it's time. Odd thing to mention is that this port came out in PAL regions in late 1996 and in NTSC regions on the 4th of March 1997.
