I was hoping this argument had died out—I really had—but as usual the cry bullies who cannot help but claim everyone and their mother is wacist and throw a temper tantrum harder than Red Letter Media could not help themselves. With the successive series of Resident Evil remakes seeing bountiful returns in monetary measure it was only a matter of times and like a seizure on Hilary Clinton it crept on us as the remake series reached the fifth installment so the journo jackasses could not help but to bring up a old talking point of the alleged racism of Resident Evil 5 which released in march 5, 2009—a game which I not only enjoyed but would be my introduction to the franchise—and did well despite the failed attempts to slander the game by the activists.
Now, the revived allegation of racism against this game is, as before, horse shit. The game was not some Birth of a Nation level anti-black propaganda flick nor was there some Woodrow Wilson-like racist figure to prop it up.
The game followed Chris Redfield who had been dispatched to Africa by the B.S.A.A. to contend with another possible biohazard event. But because Chris is white and is forced to kill zombified civilians in Africa who are trying to kill him (I say again, kill, you talentless smear merchants). There was an attempt to remedy this detrimental racist narrative by giving Chris a female African partner (who was a decent character) and filled the locations with whites and other racial and ethnic groups but this did little to quell the self-righous slack jawed cunts. The game itself was decent with a meme worthy moment involving Chris punching a boulder.
Endymion’s video goes more in-depth to this video so I suggest you go there for more context.
The narrative is, again, horse shit and profoundly hypocritical. As one man who worked on the game asked, I must ask in-turn “How is this racist?” The game was set in Africa. The game has been set in Spain, Antarctica, parts of America. It wasn’t racist then, so how is it all of a sudden racist now? It was set in Romania or some part of Eastern Europe and the journalists had no problem then. But because the enemies have black people these piss heads have their panties in a twist.
The enemies in Resident Evil 5 are (much like the other enemies in RE games) victims of Umbrella. They have been infected with a virus and turned into monsters—having their agency and ability to make decisions stripped away from them. It’s sad but Chris has to defend himself as does Sheva—unless of course I’m misunderstanding and the game journalists actually want the black woman to die.
Point, this is a horror game and horrific things happen but to these piss heads that is immaterial. These journos just have an agenda and when they have that consequences and logical consistency be damned. They don’t care, they’ve never cared, but they do like to feel important and I believe it is for that reason this retarded argument was brought up and my response to is and their calls for the RE 5 remake to be suitable for a ‘Modern Audience’ is a resounding “screw off.”
It’s not even the allegation I find to be the most offensive but was the hypocrisy of this as well as the cowardice. They know this could harm the livelihood of the game developers and make these lies anyway, and also are fine with games where you can kill wave after wave of whites. Hell, we have plenty of games where you do just that and they give it glowing reviews (especially if the game developers shower them with enough bribes). So yeah, these people are hypocrites and shlubs who—as usual—offer nothing of value to the human race but bitching and moaning.
Have a nice day.
