Vlog - Iwata's passing
R.I.P, Mr. Iwata. Thank you for your work, your joy and your vision.
I went to NoA HQ yesterday, saw some flowers, left a token, and walked away with sadness.
I posted a thing on reddit, which I'll reuse a bit here:
"I wasn't going to go, as going out is difficult for me, but then I remembered that there are likely some people that would want to visit, but could not, some who would want to say something, but had no one to whom they could say it, would want to leave something, but had nothing to give.
Many of us have Nintendo consoles and games, and I'm sure all of us have been touched in the games we've played, the worlds we've explored and the stories we've heard because of what Iwata-san has done for us over the years.
I'm not a fanboi... I haven't followed his career avidly. My own admiration for him stems mostly from his appearances in Nintendo Directs and an incredibly fun fight scene from last year. He showed me that corporations have faces beyond their mascots and names, that business don't need to be about business, and that some game makers are still just that. Because of him.
I'm fortunate that I don't work, in that it gives me some time to sometimes do little things like this, whose intent might sound more loudly than the perception. I don't artistic skills, or much eloquence, but maybe you will allow the time I spent to stand as proxy for what you might have wanted. I hope the token I left can hold you sympathies and regrets."
I know this is late. Sorry.
edit: Nintendo posted a photo to their twitter account on the morning of the 17th. Thank you to everyone who left something for him.
