VLOG: Let's Make a Deal!... Or not?
1,393As YouTubers and people in the social media spotlight, we often get approached for promotional opportunities and branded deals. It is my humble opinion that, sometimes these deals can be beneficial for both the content creator AND the audience (ie getting to play and promote a new game prior to the release, and you get to see it before its purchased to see if it's something you'd actually enjoy. Win-win, right?). There is an unspoken trust between a viewer and a content creator, that I will not promote something that doesn't pertain to you, nor will I promote a product as being "good" even if it is not, simply for monetary gain. I respect the relationship between us, and promise never to abuse your attention or the fact that you're a loyal viewer, for cheap payments or promotions - and I want you to trust that if take an endorsement or a branding opportunity, its because its something I believe many of my viewers will enjoy, and the reviews I offer are geniune and real.
Also, please don'tt take this to be the opinion or experience of any other YouTuber. This is MY opinion, based on MY experiences, and something that *I* feel needed to be said. I have accepted opportunities, and my struggle in doing so was that, despite the fact that I FIRMLY believe the opportunities are those which you all will benefit from AND enjoy, I never wanted you to feel like I would "sell out" or abuse the relationship that we have. I just wanted to get it off my chest, so I hope you all understand.
