I've avoided some other controversies in the gaming world, as I want nothing to do with the sort of vitriol involved in certain discussions, however, this one I could not keep silent over, as I've some very strong opinions on the matter.

This video is very dense with information, I know, but I wanted to shed some light on the details of this topic as articulately as possible, so do please forgive that.

TL/DR:
- I'm not against Valve allowing modders to charge for their work.
- However, the current implementation of paid content on the Steam Workshop is utterly horrendously administrated.
- One can defend the rights of others while still criticizing the system within which they are arbitrated.
-Mr. Black

UPDATE: 4-27-15
Apparently, Valve and Bethesda have heard the intense disapproval of the internet regarding this new system for Skyrim, and already cancelled paid mods for its Workshop, refunding anyone who's already purchased one. Damn, that was fast.

I've sincere doubts that this is the last we've heard of mod monetization now that the idea's come up, however, let's hope its next iteration, whatever and whenever it may arise from, is more carefully, thoughtfully executed.
