Campaign 1, Mission 2: Operation Posse
The arid plains north of Fort Lauderdale are largely a blank spot on the map, being too desolate for even planet Portland's stubborn farmers. It's only real inhabitants are vultures, snakes and mangy packs of wild dogs, living a cruel life between the few floats of sand and rocky outcroppings, hemmed in by sudden, tall mountainsides. And for the company-odd men, even in the confines of their BattleMechs, the desert is a jarring, nerve-wracking place. Shallow depressions and sudden rock formations dot the landscape everywhere along the path left by the convoy that preceded them, and an ambush or a minefield could await anywhere. Even the skies seem threatening, thanks to the knowledge that at any moment, like one of the desert's vultures, an unknown AeroSpace fighter might be upon them. But even despite the relentless presence of death, long minutes stretch into long hours, and before long, night falls. The cold of the desert can be felt even behind all the insulation of a vacuum-capable cockpit. The night goes on for what seems to be forever, in an unending pursuit.
And then, at the first rays of the sudden dawn, at the mouth of a completely unremarkable pass between two sharply rising rock formations, contact is made. A kilometer ahead, many tall shapes stand, and further ahead lie the low shapes of six flatbed trucks bearing the prizes everyone on this Blake-forsaken rock seems to want. Twenty men have walked into the Sarasvati Pass in the morning of the 4th of December, 3061. How many will walk out?
The first hour or two didn't record. FRAPS shinanigans. Me so sorry :(
Also, the video skips about 20 minutes somewhere in the beginning. Me so sorry :(
