Vortex playthrough - hard mode
260A playthrough of the SNES game Vortex on hard mode.
As far as I know no one has uploaded a playthrough of this game on hard mode so I thought that I would provide one.
The differences of the difficulties is health power-ups, enemy health, shoot-on-sight gun emplacements and the pyramid towers. as such there are only 3 health power-ups in the game on hard mode and there's a glitch which adds extra health to the bomber enemies if they drop a bomb on you. If they drop 5 bombs without you killing them they will be invincible and you have to escape and come back to reset their health. The bosses with weapons on the side and Vercingetrix's remains only gain extra health but the boss health meters are the same. As a bonus this was done without a death miraculously although if I failed a bonus level I see that as a death so I made sure to collect the extra lives, also collect them to stand a chance for trantor..
More details with the playthrough will be in annotations.........at least there were. I'll write notes in the description about the 7 stages.
1st stage: Take out the bombers as soon as they're on-screen.
2nd stage: Avoid combat and just proceed to the keys and passages.
3rd stage: Use the shortcut and move away from the boss when he spawns.
4th stage: Proceed through the stage slowly and kill all enemies that spawn on the way to the flash locks. Follow the note on bombers if you're unable to kill them.
5th stage: Same as 2nd stage. Proceed slowly through the key passage and use bombs if you need them.
6th stage: NEVER spend too long fighting certain enemies or you'll get outnumbered. Use bombs if you have to.
Final stage: Take advantage of the map edges for health recharges.
I'm thinking of uploading another run of this however it will be overclocked which will be harder than what is shown. It certainly will be an interesting run if I could succeed and I've not played this in a long time so I'd look forward to recording said run.
