VoxeRGamE -- I Looked Because I Could
📘 The Naked Sun — Summary in English
Detective Elijah Baley is sent from overcrowded Earth to the distant Spacer planet Solaria to investigate a mysterious murder — the first known homicide on a world where violence is thought impossible.
Solaria is a planet of contradictions:
Its people live in extreme isolation, interacting almost exclusively through holographic “viewing” rather than in-person contact.
Physical touch is taboo, and even families avoid real presence.
The murder victim, Dr. Delmarre, was killed physically — an act unthinkable in Solarian society.
Baley is joined again by his robotic partner R. Daneel Olivaw. Together they navigate:
A society obsessed with personal space and robotic servants.
The psychological challenges of confronting a culture where seeing someone is intimacy, and touch is horror.
Baley must rely on logic and empathy to uncover the truth behind the murder, and in the process, he:
Confronts his own fears of open space (as a man raised underground on Earth),
Forms a complex connection with Gladia Delmarre, the victim’s widow,
And begins to suspect that robotic obedience to the Three Laws may not be absolute.
