Oremy Kerman is a man who doesn't like men. He doesn't like women either. He doesn't like anyone period. Oremy is a hermit.
His fondest dream is to emigrate to the outer solar system, millions of kilometers from the nearest of his fellow beings. The thought of this fills his heart with warm happy feelings, like being smothered by hundreds of happy puppies. Surprisingly, thanks to the Kerbal Space Agency, his lifelong dream is about to come true. He will be given a ship and sent to the moons of Jool, and he will never again return to the surface of Kerbin.
Why would the KSA make such a generous offer, at the cost of billions of Kubels?
In return for providing the ship, Oremy will scan the surfaces of Laythe, Bop and Pol for kethane and report the results back to the Space Center. You may be asking yourself, "Self, why would the KSA not just send a probe to do all this at a fraction of the cost?" You may well ask yourself this.
Oremy is also to plant the flag on Bop and Pol. Now the KSA has long aspired to send men to do just that, but there are... issues. First issue being, no sane creature wants to spend a year in a tin can to get to Jool, step out, plant a flag, and then spend a year in a tin can to get back home. Oremy isn't coming home, he is GOING home. He wants to go, honestly. ;)
Oremy Kerman is poised to become a citizen of the Cosmos. He passed all his physical and mental tests. He is certified as legally sane. They didn't cheat, they swear...
