I actually forgot this version of the game eventually got retrofitted with native online play.
... ... ...after this, I'd kinda like to forget all over again.
It's also an ancient game by most standards, and it's kinda insane that it's still available on digital storefronts across lapsed licenses and changes of hands.
It also wasn't online capable from the get-go... but it was GOING to get it... ... ... until the licensor turned into a pumpkin, and then no-go.
So I was actually assuming this would be a Parsec situation for sure.
It's probably for the best it wasn't, though... it would've helped with the latency and disconnections, I'd wager, but...a game this old randomly seems to crash at certain arbitrary intervals or segments.
And this wasn't technically "my" show or my idea to begin with (that's the power of friendly pestering!), so I was content to take the backseat here... but technical troubles reared their ugly mugs even before the punching could properly begin. So I just decided "we're doing this, and here's how"... because FUN. (I craved it.)

This is a project I've done before, if you're familiar with my back catalogue of eventually-completed projects... though that was on Xbox 360, where the achievement integration was just a tad snappier and more predatory.
The game is quite fun once you gel with its oddities, and it only really has the "good" kind of jank, for the most part, anyway.
It was fun to revisit now that the mechanics and set pieces weren't quite so fresh in my mind.
---
My lingering "regrets," if I had any (no! fun! do not besmirch the fun!) would be twofold:
There's no clean audio and non-creepy-puppet-show variant. Primarily because I was leaving that to Jimmy, so he could have an EVEN MORE unbearably high fidelity project of his own. But with all the production snafus and unaccountable crashes of the game itself on his end, that clearly wasn't happening.
Normally I also save a clean copy myself, but that ALSO didn't work this time for freaky unforeseen nonsense reasons, so... oops? (The fools! Should've had THREE safety net recordings instead!)
The other one is a misgiving I'm always grappling with regardless. That is, do I just upload a stream archive straight away? Do I chunk it up for episodes and add yet ANOTHER drip feed to my innumerable cracks of cracked content seeping out at already irritatingly irregular intervals?
Weigh in on this last one in particular if you got this far. It's through people conscientiously complaining about stuff that I find out what works and what doesn't, after all
... ... ...you've seen all along what it looks like when I do whatever it is I feel like or assume works out well enough. :3
