Walking the Lay Center (Rode Field Test)
A little different than my normal videos, but consider that this is still field twsting my Rode microphone (details below).
My favorite place to go walk is the St. Louis Lay Center, located in Pike County roughly an hour north of St Louis. This hidden gem of a park is scarce known but is a huge, multi-path walking trail with two large ponds and a plethora of enormous bronze sculptures that decorate the paths.

It's a surreal, relaxing, quiet place that is wonderfully accessible - you can simply play at the playground or walk around "storybook woods" which is at the beginning of the trail experience.
The path we take today is just one of many possible paths, and we didn't see close to everything available here, but I hope you enjoy this walk with us.
As to the equipment used, I used my ever trusty Note 10 Plus in 1080p60 (for smoother video) and the RODE Videomic Go II mounted on a rig.
BEACN is my favorite mic, but if I need something off-camera, I'll need a "shotgun" supercardioid / hypercardioid mic.
I don't live near a Guitar Center or Musician's Friend outlet (I don't live in St. Louis) so I can't just go in and test whatever. Thus, I needed to select a microphone carefully so I could minimize the chance of me wanting to return in to try another.
I carefully listened to reviews on the Rode Videomic Go II, the Videomicro, and the NTG, and also the Comica line of shotgun microphones and the more accessible Sennheiser mics before deciding to try this one. It was about $100.
My requirements: must be USB and not battery-powered, must have monitoring port. That's it.
SO far...I'm really happy with this choice. You'll have to let me know what you think. I've done two more field tests with this microphone - both connected to my Note 10@phonecamera.949 Plus phone camera; one in the car, and one in my untreated studio. They're pretty intensive for a microphone so give those a listen (they might not both be published yet).
