Just something I really wanted to get out of my system.

'sigh' it's been really frustrating for a while, watching the decay of youtube. You know what, despite all the terrible things I'd have to say about youtube, I would just shut my trap and deal with it if it weren't for the Content ID system, a terrible method of enforcing copyright whether it's right, wrong, in-between, or even related to the video. Honestly, it doesn't really bother me personally too much, sure, I hate with a passion getting stupid claims that'll last for 30 days even if I protest them because the thing that claims them isn't even a real thing, it's just jibberish, but I don't make money off this stuff, and I don't have any plan or belief it will happen any time in the future. The reason I do care is because of the people it hurts, including those that aren't even in the gray areas of copyright, but are following it by the book.

The ID system is a machine, it doesn't care what or who it targets, it just has one job, take from the many individuals out there, and reward the few. The system is very biased in favour of the few, treating videos as gold digging sites with no property owner and just staking a claim for it's selected 'content owner' who immediately starts profiting off the content.

Heck, if you're a Persona fan, you remember how ridiculous it was when there was that one incident where a single party, not even related to Atlas, was able to abuse the system to start handing out copyright strikes on all the most highly viewed videos, putting many of those channels under. The system isn't any better now than it was that short bit of time ago.

The single worst most thing is that there is very little any one individual can do about it. Even with organized protest via petition very little has been achieved and the people who don't understand a thing about this community are more than willing to allow and demand youtube continues this treatment of the thieves of content owners. But since we're just fake and real names, voices, and faces on the internet, nobody really cares about our rights, so we don't really have any.

These are some of the possibilities I see in the future:

1. A competing video website gains some popularity from youtube's decline and gradually draws a greater audience. However, I can't see this one happening very quickly, if at all.

2. Well known individuals of youtube and their bases unite to fight for a better future for creators. Sure I've seen some individuals step forward to ask for support in petitions and such, but it doesn't seem as though that many individuals are willing to do this except those who have suffered from the effects of the changes first hand.

3. Youtube continues on as it has been for a number of years, caring only about its profits, and not at all about its users or creators. Some notable names will probably disappear, although few may actually care outside that individual's fanbase. Option 3 may end up happening even in situations where 2 or 1 exist.

Anyway, sorry for the description rant, if we're lucky, things might not have to get as bad as I've suggested, if we're unlucky they'll get worse than that, it's just the way things are.

Also, on a more positive note, I have my laptop functioning again! ^^ And I do have plans for many videos to come in the future. Also, I've been putting in more work to try and get some levels done for Boogaloo world. I've been rather slow in making content for the game, I only currently have 3 levels in the game, 2 in the last couple worlds, but I have some ideas for levels I'm working on right now.

Anyway, I'm going to be getting back to work, and will have a new let's play episode up tomorrow, maybe a new LPA Got Game up as well.

May you soar like a Falcon and have a wonderful day!
