Wampler: FAUX TAPE ECHO (with Triple Wreck)
http://www.wamplerpedals.com
As per my email to Brian:
"When I opened your parcel (thank you again) the first thing that dawned on me was the quality of the construction. Top quality, strength, toughness. Right down to the solid hammer finish and size of the plate screws. Another triumph for Wampler! I havent opened it up yet, but I know I dont need to because if its anything like everything else you make, it will be top notch. I just wanted to plug it in and be floored.
So I plugged it in. Keep in mind that I had just spent the best part of 2 hours sonically dissecting, recording and mixing a very well known tape echo emulator. I think you may have blitzed them in this case..
Yours has a big, fat warmth everything you claim on your site. The trails and decays are as you say, tape-like. I just love it. And then theres the modulation. And its not like yer standard chorus modulation its a fluctuating tape-like modulation that can approximate that chorus sound (around 9pm) or go straight to crikey-I-think-the-tape-might-stretch-and-break-any-second! modulation. Heheh. Its great!
Does it want for anything? Well, we both know that people will ask for a tap function; but we both also know that the Echoplex and its ilk didnt have that function, right?"
And on and on I go..
Recording details:
Strat to pedals to Laney VC50.
Miked with the Violet Design 'The Amethyst'.
Recorded with Logic. Video through iMovie.
That's it. Thanks for watching!
