You might think that the War for the Planet of the Apes was fought in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and.. well, you'd be right. There was that big escalation right at the end, but this movie skips over that minor detail to get to the REAL story we care about. Which group of warring humans will get to be the humans in the background on this planet, that will no doubt be ruled by Apes?

Update: I'm very sorry to say that this review is not 100% accurate. As many have pointed out in the comments, the ape I kept referring to as "Bright Eyes" was in fact named "Blue Eyes" and worst of all, the point I rambled on and on about, the baby introduced in this movie, was in fact introduced in the PREVIOUS movie.

I could try to figure out how I screwed that up so bad, be it lack of sleep, trying to get the script out too fast, or whatever but it really doesn't matter why I messed up. The problem is that I messed up, and figuring out an excuse why isn't going to change that.

This show is for you all out there, and you deserve better than that. I'm infinitely more upset at myself for that slip than any slightly more negative comment could make me feel. I will do better going forward and I am sorry for not double checking what I thought I knew. (ironically, right after a little chat with John Massari about how malleable memory really is...)

Of course, I can't just grovel. I have to double down on some shit to, and with that in mind the comments about how it's perfectly bad to have one son murdered even if you have a spare... yes, in reality. However, in movies there is a bit of a disconnect there.

Just as how in Hellraiser: Judgment I point out that in reality, your brother having your wife's phone number and being on friendly terms with her is completely mundane but in movies it is 100% a sign they're boning, while in reality having one of your children murdered is horrifying and could spark a quest for revenge even if you have more family... in a movie? I expect commitment with these tragedies.

Remember, this is fiction and someone out there decided to make the peace-loving Ceasar go on a quest for revenge triggered from his family being slaughtered, and also decided that not all his family should be slaughtered. Objectively, that softens the blow of losing family if you still have family left.

In any case, moving forward I hope to not screw up the reviews so much in terms of both factual errors, and explaining my positions properly.
