In this video I take you through my process for drawing and coloring a quick character design in Photoshop. This is a real time fully narrated tutorial where I take you though my process from start to finish. No fancy editing. No youtuber jokes... just the real step by step way I do this all day every day.

Focusing on the design often takes longer than a normal drawing. The goal here (for personal characters and work at least) is to refine the charater's costume and personality so that it's more appealing and easier to draw (and more fun to draw!).
This is different to a typical concept design workflow where the goal is often to ideate many different versions. In the case of professional work I tend to be rougher and focus on the ideas. Here we start with an existing design and refine it again and again until it feels like the original but is easy and fun to draw.
Art takes a lot of patience and practice. In these real time process tutorials I want to share with you the pace at which I normally create these quick images and Illustrations that I regularly make. Even though they are quite fast from an industry professional standard... you will see that it takes a long time and the process is often chilled out and thoughtful. These are unedited and often done in a single sitting.
