Watch The Canvas Blender Transform This Portrait
Hey gang,
So for this portrait, which I really enjoyed doing, I snagged a reference image from Pinterest, put it on Reference in Procreate and did a rough then started painting with the round brush.
Close to the end I use the Canvas Blender Brush to smooth the gradients and add some textures. I'm not usually someone who uses the blender a lot because I like to see the transitions in gradient personally, but this blender still allows for that painted quality and really helped to elevate the portrait at then end.
Now I left the borders still in sketch style, and did not fully paint out past the face, and I've seen other artists do some pieces with partially showing construction and I really enjoy those, so I though I'd give it a whirl.
And what are the thoughts? Do we like this style of painting, or do you prefer not to see construction in the final piece?
I think the reason I stay away from airbrushing is that I enjoy those painted, rougher lookting transitions in tone.
Thanks for watching, and interact in the comments, it helps my work get seen.
Thanks again!
