We Did it! ... At Least I Think We Did ... | Darkness (part 7 | Final)

So I THINK we reached the end? I'm not too sure considering the error that just happened lol. Anyways, yeah that was Darkness! Pretty fun for a horror RPG Maker game, although I do admit the last part was a bit confusing...Nevertheless still a fun game to go through for Halloween ;D
Edit: So apparently this is the ending! Lol sucks for the bug at the end, but this was made fairly recently so there's bound to be bugs.
So like I said in the video, here's a review:
First off, the music in the game was phenomenal, so A+ for music xD. The game was alright throughout until the end...and I'm not referring to the bug, I'm referring to the part with the hallway, hospital beds, doors, machines, etc. After the chase scene, the addition of that part just made the story confusing and anti-climactic (e.g. I didn't get what the machines were all about and what it had to do with Daniel's soul, or why there was a note made by Daniel's mother when his mother was never ever mentioned prior in the game).
Second, it's not made clear whether Daniel has some sort of psychological disorder. For instance, in the RPG Maker horror called "Paranoiac", it's clear that the main character is suffering from a psychological disorder but in this case, Daniel realizes that everything was "part of his imagination" and yet still wants to "catch up on sleep" in the SAME hotel? Lol. Usually most people would not want to stay in the same hotel and just take their chances out in the street if they had such a distorted yet detailed "imaginary" experience about a hotel or somewhere that they were staying at (I mean like, maybe if a dream was hazy or something then some might go "oh it was just a dream, it might not mean anything" and go back to sleep but in this case it was his imagination which makes it weird). So is Daniel insane for having that imaginary experience and staying in that hotel rather than leaving? It should be more clear whether he's insane.
Anyway, here's a suggestion (and you don't have to take my suggestion if you don't want to or don't agree, it's purely just a suggestion for your benefit): Maybe just stop the game after the chase scene, and then go straight to Daniel leaving the hotel. Afterwards possibly have Daniel go home (or to another CLEARLY different hotel) and fall asleep there where Elena shows up quick at the end like it did here. OR take out the chase scene and improve the connection between the story and the last part with the hallway, doors, and machines, although it would be much easier to just stop the game after the chase scene like I mentioned.
Also just something to watch out for, to anyone out there wanting to make a horror game, story, or video, be careful when adding humorous dialogue. In a horror game, too much humorous dialogue can really take away the horror aspect of the game, especially if the game is not scary enough for the humor to act as comic relief. Too much humorous dialogue can also make the horror game seem like a parody of horror instead of an actual horror (like the movies in the "Scary Movie" series). Although humorous dialogue is alright to add in Easter eggs (since Easter eggs are already weird xD), or parody horrors if that's what you're going for.
Other than those things, the game was not bad, good atmosphere (especially in the creepier parts), appropriate jump scares (timing for the scares are just right, not over done at random times), and the puzzles were not too hard yet not too easy.
Overall this game was pretty fun, final rating: 7/10
So if you're looking for a new horror game to play, check out this game (in the link above). Better to play it after the bugs have been sorted out though xD
Great game Jake, hopefully you'll make more awesome games like this! Keep it up!~
