1In this episode, as you will see, we are SO SO close to a play-off spot but we NEED a defender because we keep conceding! HELP me save Sheffield Wednesday.
Well, folks, it's happened. Through some cruel, twisted, and frankly, hilariously evil turn of fate, I've been tasked with managing Sheffield Wednesday. Yes, that Sheffield Wednesday. The club I've spent my entire life despising with the passion of a thousand burning suns and the irrational hatred usually reserved for that one relative who always asks if you've "found a nice boy/girl yet."
You see that badge? The one with the owl that looks perpetually disappointed? Yeah, I have to look at that every single day now. My pre-match team talks are less about tactics and more about me trying to suppress an urge to replace all their kit with the colours of Sheffield United (UTB). Don't worry, I'll be sharing all those internal monologues with you.
Get ready for a journey filled with begrudging decisions, probably a lot of internal screaming, and perhaps, just perhaps, I'll try to win a game or two. Don't expect me to be singing "Hi-Ho Sheffield Wednesday" anytime soon – unless it's a desperate cry for help – but I will be attempting to drag this club kicking and screaming (mostly screaming) to some semblance of success. Or, more likely, glorious, spectacular failure. Whichever comes first, as long as it's entertaining.
Will I accidentally-on-purpose sign a player who's terrible just because their name sounds funny? Will I celebrate goals with the enthusiasm of someone who just stubbed their toe? Will my mental health hold up through an entire season of this? Join me in this torturous experiment as my soul slowly, agonisingly, leaves my body with each match.
