'We will not accept any mongrel congressman as a puppet of the Trump government,' says Erika Hilton

"Being here today is sending a message to the US government that Brazil is sovereign and it has the power to make its own decisions," said Federal Representative Érika Hilton (PSOL-SP), at the rally calling for the end of the 6-for-1 scale and the taxation of the super-rich, which took place yesterday (10) on Paulista Avenue in São Paulo (SP).
The demonstration, which brought together tens of thousands of people, gained momentum with US President Donald Trump's decision to tax Brazilian products by 50%, which brought the issue of national sovereignty to the forefront.
In the crowd, businesswoman Jane Patrícia defended the banner of national sovereignty. "While we are here working, striving to build a better country, Bolsonaro's son, along with Bolsonaro, is elsewhere, fighting against our country."
In her speech, Patrícia recalled the participation of Eduardo Bolsonaro, a federal deputy on leave who is in the US, where she praised the increase in taxes on Brazilian products. She stated that she took to the streets out of "the pride of being Brazilian, the pride of having a president who is not submissive."
Hilton emphasized that the taxes announced by the president are "a political measure, and have nothing to do with the economy." "We have deputies on leave who want to destroy our country and our sovereignty," she told #BrasildeFato.
From the sound truck, the deputy emphasized the relevance of the central issues of the demonstration: "We will fight for the end of the 6x1 scale, we will fight for the taxation of large fortunes. We want millionaires to foot this bill, which does not belong to the people."
