WedSNESday: Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind - This is exactly what could go wrong.
This week on WedSNESday, we play the game that wanted to be as edgy and fast as sonic, but thought it would be a good idea to have a protagonist that still dies instantly on contact with everything he hits. It's Bubsy the Bobcat in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind!

Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind was developed and published by Accolade in 1993, and marked the first in a long-running series of Bubsy video games with a number of sequels and ports, including an upcoming 2018 sequel. You play as Bubsy the Bobcat, fighting to save the world's yarn from an alien menace called "The Woolies". As owner of the world's largest collection of yarn balls, it comes down to our protagonist to leverage his combination of Sonic's speed with Mario's jumping strength as the world's only hope. The game released to polarizing reviews, some praising it for its charm and level design, while others criticizing its difficult to master, "floaty" controls, and the very same level design that others praised it for.
Fun fact: Bubsy given the award for "Most Hype for a Character of 1993" by EGM, and even had an animated pilot, featuring Rob Paulsen, Tress MacNeille, Jim Cummings and other VO legends.
WedSNESday is the Level 0 NPCs weekly series where we play one older game for one episode, just to relive the nostalgia and maybe make your hump day just a little bit more fun.
