Mega Man 2.5D was released in February 2017 by The Mega Man 2.5D Development Team, a group of Mega Man fans with some fantastic game development talents. Borne of a 2009 animated proof-of-concept video, the team was formed when the fan response to the idea was overwhelmingly positive - and spanned over 8 years. It is still in development, and the current version that the NPCs are playing is 1.0.2. It is remarkable as it presents the old style 8-bit Mega Man in a 3D environment, in the same manner as the wildly popular Paper Mario series of games. It is available free on the web.
