Weekly Runs!!! - Week 37 - Overture - Ep. 1 - All Unlocked!
The Weekly Runs!!! are back in full swing! Week 37 showcases the game Overture and why I am not amazing at bullet-hell games. I spent a good chunk of time before I covered the game this week, gather cash moneys so I would be able to unlock all of the playable characters and show a few of them off. Overture is a top down, pixel art, 2D, twin stick shooter, with both RPG elements, and roguelike elements. There's 24 unlockable characters, each one playing different from one another. The levels are randomly generated. You level up as you gain experience and there is a bunch of loot to grab. The controls are simply and the pace pretty frantic. If I had to compare Overture to other games I would say it's a mix of the following: It has the sprite graphics from games such as Realm Of The Mad God, Quest Of Dungeons, or Hack, Slash, Loot. The gameplay is very similar to Hero Siege, Hammerwatch, or old school Smash TV. It's quite fun, very addicting, and not too demanding. I found myself playing 10-40 minutes at a time over the course of the week, and always coming back for more. I imagine you'll do the same if you pick it up! I also imagine you'll do WAY better than I will, but I'll be back in later weeks to try again. :)
